Step 1) Open the Xbox using a torx 20 driver .
Step 2) Grounding yourself carefully remove the power and IDE cables from your hard drive and DVD drive .
Step 3) Remove the screws retaining the hard drive to the dvd drive carrier and remove the hard drive .
Step 4) Remove the two small torx screws in the front of the dvd drive and remove the drive .
Step 5) Open the drive by removing the (4) phillips screws in the dvd drive housing .
Step 6) Remove the top and locate the laser assymbly and unplug the ribbon at the rear of laser . To remove the laser I gently pulled up on the slide rail on the gear side .
Step 7) Turn the laser around so the ribbon connector is facing you . To adjust the POT we need to adjust the LEFT POT screw . Place your multimeter leads with one on the lower right leg of the POT and the other should go to the top solder pad of the POT . With your meter set on ohms slowly turn the screw until it reads 800 .
Step 9) Re-assymble the drive and install it into the xbox . Test to see results . If more adjustment is needed then just repeat the steps but turn the POT unil your meter reads 500 . DO NOT GO ANY LOWER ! Anything less than 500 ohms will fry the laser and you'll have to replace it .
Well , there it is . Hopefully this will help eliminate the DDE's and Phillips 6011/21 drives .Added images . They're not the best but hopefully will work.... .
