I have purchased a Seagate 100 GB Portable External Hard Drive. I downloaded the "SWISSKNIFE" application to make this hard drive work as an added on Hard Drive on my Xbox360 using the USB port on the back of the system. In the Seagate instruction manual it says this:
"Your drive is factory formatted for a FAT32 system and no further formating is needed for Windows operating systems"
I read the tutuorial on here and it said that your drive has to be formatted to FAT32. With the drive already in the FAT32 format, I added an mp3 music file to the external hard drive by plugging it into my PC. After I added the file, I then plugged the External Hard Drive into the USB on the back of the Xbox360. I scrolled to the Media section, then music, and it was not there. The option to use portable device was shaded out so I could not use that one.
I read on here to download SwissKnife to format the external hard drive. When I start SwissKnife up and click on my External Hard Drive, this is the info it is giving me:
-On Devices, I click on "USB Host Adapter 1"
-In the right info window it says-
Volume File System Media Type
SEA_DISK[F:] FAT 32 Fixed
I then clicked on "Partition and Quick Format" on the left toolbar and this is the information it gave me:
Partition Size[MB] Volume Label File System Status
Extended 95385 N/A N/A
Logical 95385 SEA_DISK FAT 32 formatted
Free Space 0
....And this is as far as I have made it. I did not want to mess the External Hard Drive up, so thought I would stop and ask the pros here on what I need to do. Please it is not too much trouble, step by step would be the best......thanks
