The resistor is the type PNP as recommended by the Llamma tutorial. I used an LED calculator and it recommended using the same transistor as Llamma. Later tonight Ill take some pictures of everything I did, more specifically where I hid wires.

EDIT: I'd also like to point out that normally on a Sunday (at work), I get a pretty good 6 hours of playing Lumines before the battery starts to crap out. Today with the modded triggers, there was no noticeable difference in battery life.

Plus, the triggers are working perfectly fine (originally they were sticking a bit, I just removed all hot glue from the outside with a small nail file (very careful)...the system passed the Lumines test! I certainly deleted some blocks today.

hot glue gun, soldering iron, solder, wire strippers, 30 gauge wire, and the tweezers llamma sells. everything i feel is necesarry. i didnt have the tweezers and ruined 3 LEDs trying to solder, went out and bought the tweezers locally for more than what llamma is selling them for.

also, the pictures are going to be slightly delayed. Somehow, my cat managed to urinate all over my Nikon, so...that is getting cleaned. With bleach. And probably fire.

True, just less two LEDs (because you only need two for the trigger).

Since the original post, we now know you don't need to tap directly to the battery, and you may or may not have to use the resistor. I did both on mine.

If you can, run to a radioshack and pick up a breadboard like Llama used in the tutorials, and test your wiring of everything before you solder things permanent.

Especially the LEDs, you wouldn't want to glue them into the trigger to find out they were soldered wrong.

Yeah, get the 30 gauge wire from llama. I'm sure whatever country your are in has an electronics store that can provide you with a PNP transistor.

Hey Llama, i wanted to do this project except just the shoulder buttons, not the directional or triangle... i was gonna order parts from your site and i had a question. if i wanted to just do 2 leds, what resistor would i need? (i dont care if the lights are on all the time, btw.)
-thx for your support

So i decided to do this mod.

No problems with doing the actuaky work, the only prblem ive coem across so far has nothing to do with the mod.

When doing hte mod it appears i touched the actual LCD severl times, an have left several finger prints all over it.

What is the best course of action. How should i clean it? Anything to watch out for?

I only know how to clean the face plate cover, and even then im hazy on the subject since i got a screen protector right away.

Please help

Get a soft towel and put a little GlassSpray on it( liquid stuff to clean glass )
and rub softly over the lcd screen...
