-TUT- How to Fix the Stuck Tray Problem

Postby Deary65 » Sat Aug 29, 2009 4:06 pm

Most of the time the drive will get stuck due to a damaged or stretched drive belt.
A temporary solution is to put it into boiling water and gradually let it cool.
But, longer lasting and quicker solutions:

Have a cheap, small elastic band, double it over and put it where the drive belt goes (make sure it's tight).

An even better solution is to use the rubber bands used for braces - 4F's (5/16" bands with a 6 oz pull) they work like a charm and your local orthodontist will give them to you for free!
There is no such thing as 'permanent'!

Or Better yet, buy the real deal: http://cgi.ebay.com/XBOX-360-DVD-DRIVE-BELT-LOT-OF-10-BELTS_W0QQitemZ130314988531QQcmdZViewItemQQptZ

Or here: http://studiosoundelectronics.com/cdlasers.htm#BELT I use the SBS2.4, and I have used these people with no problems.

Absolutely. It's just this can fix it within a day if you have an elastic band or know where an orthodentist is instead of waiting a couple of days for it to arrive.

Oh yeah, understood. Sometimes you need a quick fix, I just wanted to offer up some sources for the original belts.
