Hey all, I am backk!

Ok, I sold my Etnies Xbox 360 (made $100 on it, not too shabby eh? :) ) but I still have my orig. xbox and it is just sitting here staring me in the face in it's stock black/dark green/whatever the hell it is case just asking to be modded and hacked and such. The only mods on it are the fan is running off 12v and it's softmodded with unleashX. Any idea's guys?

P.S. Just got my room painted blue and red so something matching might be cool :P

Actually I have an original box here too asking for a mod.

I'll probably do a Metallica mod, I planned a case for each album when I was in 10th grade I think. (5ish years ago)

Idea found! I am gonna have 2 fishtanks, 1 smallish one that I will have my router, LED power supply and such in and 1 medium sized one for the Xbox. I am gonna fill both with mineral oil and LEDs, hopefully RGB ones if I can find enough and then build a driver with an Arduino to fade the LEDs, maybe make them change according to the stock power LEDs so I can interface with XBMC to pick the different colors or some sort of cycle.

Hows that sound?

W00T! Bought the tank today, got the Xbox all disemboweled and ready to go. I dremeled out the bottom of the case under the mobo so I can superglue it to the back of the tank and still be able to remove the mobo for fixes and such. I am going to a place near where I live where they do metal fabrications to get a lid built that will sit ontop and cover the tank and also house the dvdd and hdd and controller/usb ports. I am going to have 2 controller ports and 2 usb ports (I only have 2 controllers anyways). Under the tank is a 3mm tall recess that will be perfect to have a red, a green, and a blue strip of EL wire. I also have an airrator (air bubble machine or whatever the hell it is called) to add to the visual stunningness. Lastly I have the stock Xbox fan to be directed at the heat sinks and the fan out out of a 360 to keep the oil circulating through the tank.

I will post pics of the setup soon! (There is no oil yet and nothing is mounted but everything is basically laid out how it will be)

Well here is is as it sits now. Nothing special yet..

First off, all the parts I have collected so far:
Image
Yea, the fan needs cleaning  and I need to solder one of the controller ports power wires back on but its not too shabby. Note the bubble-blower (dubbed as of now) at the top.

Secondly, the fish tank with Xbox mobo and PSU inside:
Image
The tank is a little dirty and needs to be cleaned badly. Also the DVD drive and HDD look out of place.. Because they are, I am taking the measurements for the lid today.

Lastly, my desk with everything on it:

Here you can see my TV, the fish tank, and my other Xbox waiting quietly in the corner. I am turning that one into a full DVD driveless (doesn't work anymore anyways) biggest-hdd-I-can-buy media center.

Nice! Already looks professional. You should make a 360 one if this one works out. Make them identical, so you have two consoles lined up with oil cooling. :D Looks great though!

Man... if I had the money I would totally do one of those. I have two original xboxes sitting around begging....very nice work though, excited to see it done. And I completely agree Arduino ftw.
