I soldered my V2 fans to the 12v and Earth point today on my super elite.

The Brick turned Red then my console Shut off.

I rebooted, the brick was green, but I got the 3 Red Rings.

Out came the solder and into the DVD drive it went. Cant say I didnt try :(

What do you mean by "Out came the solder and into the DVD drive it went"?
You've probably shorted something out. De-solder everything and see if you still get it. You may've blown a MOSFET.

hey, I just bought a brand new elite with hdmi and stuff yesterday and I'm receiving my liquid cooling kit tomorrow along with a fan controller and 2 kits of 2 ccfl's. Wel i've read a lot of topics, watched a lot of youtube video's but i still don't understand how to get power out of the 360. I rather don't want to do any soldering and I heard that you can tap power from the dvd drive but how? Broke open my old xbox and saw a sata connector and a non-standard power connecter. then on other sites I read that on the new xbox 360's with HDMI you can use the power from the fans because it's a standard 3 pin-connector but then they say that the ground wire is switched? So my question is: How can you draw power from the 360 without having to solder anything? I Want to use 1 maybe 2 kits of CCFL lights (2 lights per kit) and 1 fan controller and maybe als the original fans.
thanks in advance

For all that, it's not safe using the DVD power.
Soldering to the mainboard isn't that hard at all.
Still, here's a diagram that will help:

ok, I know how to solder and stuff and for what kind of power connector is this? Do you mean a standard 4-pin connector which is also used on this fancontroller i believe: http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/pr ... s_index=80 (lian-li tr 3) and on these CCFL's : http://www.revoltec.net/revoltec.net/in ... teLang=en# (technical data says 4-pin molex connector). So I will have to cut open a 4-pin molex connector wire and then solder the wires to a few specific points on the back of the motherboard on the 360 near the power plug? And does your diagram mean that I have to solder the yellow +12 wire to the 10th and/or the 12th pin, the black 12v ground wire to the 11th, 9th, 7th or even 5th wire? And the black 5v ground wire to one of these and then the red 5v wire to the 8th pin? If that's so I understand it:) and I assume if i only need 12v power I can also just solder half of the wires and leave the 5v or the other way around? And then my final question is: What about the fan connector in the new 360 elite? can't i use that one by rewiring a 3-pin so that it can draw power for something like the fan controller? Thansk for your help so far;)

Sry Im not that experienced and have a question. The fan I have is a 12v 3pin, do I need to connect all 3 wires I was looking at the pic on the first post and saw the spots to solder the red and black does this mean that I dont need the yellow? The fan I am wiring is going to be mounted to my acrilic side panel for induct and looks. I already did the mod for air flow over the heatsinks and under the plastic fan shroud as well.

So no yellow wire?
Sorry Im slow

Yellow wire is for speed control on a PC, you don't need it for a 360.

Will the leds on the whisper fan draw a little less power to the fans? i mean i know they are meant to work stock, but i want the best performance. i am already going to be soldering the aurora kit to the 12v source under the power suppy. should i wire the leds from the whisper to the 12v source also? or should i LEAVE THEM ALONE. this is a new xbox, and i dont wna screw up. ive fixed red rings and stuff. but i have never soldered anything to an xbox board.

You can leave them alone or solder the fans to 12V. The power to the LEDs is regulated from the fan power so they will light whenever the fans have 5-12 V.
