Simple Painting Tutorial

Postby Under-Ground » Wed Jul 12, 2006 8:03 pm

heres a simple tutorial you can all follow to paint your xbox 360 and or controllers

Materials:
Sandpaper(800 grit, 1500 grit, 2000 grit)
Paint (paint ment for plastics, Dupli Color, Krylon Fusion, etc...paint ment for plastic)

1- Soak all parts to be painted in warm water, leave in for a few minutes
2- WETSAND all parts with 800 grit paper, should be real smooth
2.5 - rinse in water after wetsand, get all that leftover off
3- Let all parts dry naturally, no towel dry
4- When it is all dry, apply first coat of paint, let it dry for 30-45 minutes
5- Apply second coat of paint, let that dry for 30-45 minutes
6- If there are any bubbles of paint or anything, you could wetsand that down with 1500 grit
7- Apply third coat of paint, let that one dry for an hour
8- Clear: apply first clear coat, let that dry for an hour
9 Apply second clear coat, let that dry overnight, dont touch it

thats pretty much the basics for painting the 360

Not a bad condensed quick tut. Sometimes it is nice to be able to get the idea with in a couple min opposed to the 3 page long tuts.

Great.. I've bookmarked it. I'll make a tut's section in the 360 section and collect them all together in the next day or so. Thanks guys. :D

i may be wrong, but UG i think maybe you should mention after wet sanding, that they may need to rinse the pcs to be painted in flowing water to make sure 100% of the grit comes off...
