Ok, not to beat you down on your first post, BUT, please make sure you post in the correct section of the forum, you posted in the original Xbox section instead of the Xbox 360 section, I moved it to the correct section.

Second, you said you looked the sight over for the no video problem but couldn't find anything? At the top of the 360 General Diagnosis section (where this thread is now), is a sticky thread called "No Video". Not to mention, take a look at threads on just the first and second page, there are numerous threads about no video, it is a common problem.

Lastly, to answer your question, no video is related to a problem with the GPU, not the dvd drive. Try doing the clamp replacement fix, instructions can be found here: http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/ring_of_light_x-clamp_fix.htm
This is not always a permanent fix, in fact, more times than not, a month or two down the road you will have problems again. A better fix is to find someone who can do a reflow of the GPU, you can do this first, or you can do the clamp replacement and see if that works.
Hope this helps,
Steve

Have it reflowed, will cost you about $40 unless you feel brave and want to try the oven reflow method.

Just serach ebay for reflow or ask around. :D
